SUMMARY:CIPC Technical Update 
DESCRIPTION:This presentation deals with independent review in general, as encapsulated in Regulation 29 of the Companies Act, No. 71 of 2008. It will look at the requirements for an independent review to be exercised, the benefits of exercising an independent review, the procedure/s to be followed by the independent reviewer, as well as the function/s and role of the Companies and Intellectual Property Commission (CIPC), upon receipt of a reportable irregularity report based on an independent review. The presentation will also touch on some of the challenges experienced by CIPC with regards to the regulation of independent review, as well as certain critical areas regarding non-compliance. Statistics on reports received and matters resolved will also be provided. The presentation will also reflect the requirements of filing an annual report on the part of the various professional bodies in the accounting and auditing sector.
