Overview

The independent review was introduced via the Companies Act as a less onerous and less financially burdensome type of assurance engagement (compared to an audit) for certain types of companies that qualify.

The Public Interest Score (PIS) is the main determinant when deciding whether to perform an audit or an independent review of a company's financial statements. This means a company that scores below the PIS threshold can opt for an independent review instead of an audit.

What are the key differences between an audit and an independent review? How is the PIS calculated and how does the level of assurance of an independent review fare against that of an audit? We have invited Nestene Botha CA(SA) to present this webinar where she will answer these pertinent questions and also advise you how you can establish a system of quality control, prepare working papers to accept, perform and complete the engagement. Join Nestene on 15 September 2022 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. for an engaging discussion.
