Overview:

The CIPC is responsible for the registration of companies and the enforcement of certain provisions of the Companies Act, 2008. Accountants are key stakeholders of the CIPC and interact with the CIPC on a daily basis. The purpose of the CIPC Monthly Technical Update webinars is to provide an opportunity for the CIPC and accountants to engage in a webinar format.

In this way we can build mutual understanding of the statutory filing process and through dialogue make improvements and better the lives of millions of emerging and established companies.

Presenters:

Elaine Kalappen, Senior Investigator, Corporate Compliance & Disclosure Regulation, CIPC
Elaine Kalappen has a legal background, having attained a Master’s degree in law. She is also an admitted advocate. Her career spans almost twenty years having served in various legal positions, both in the private and public sector.

Elaine has been involved with the area of independent review since its inception at CIPC in August 2013. Her responsibilities include the awareness of independent review with regards to its stakeholders, investigating complaints and `reportable irregularity’ reports based on independent review, ensuring compliance with Companies legislation, and dealing with the operational and functional aspects of the subject, including all matters incidental thereto.
 
Hennie Viljoen, XBRL Programme Manager - CIPC
Hennie works for Deloitte on the CIPCs XBRL Programme as XBRL Programme Manager. His responsibility is to manage all aspects of the programme including change management both with internal and external stakeholders, as well as development and implementation of a technical XBRL solution interfacing with client companies.

His qualifications include B.Sc. in Computer Science and Mathematics, experienced in XBRL while at the Financial Services Board and also experienced in Project and Programme Management.
