Big data comes in diverse forms and from a wide variety of sources such as social media, electronic devices, the web and transactional applications, just to name a few.  

This webinar introduces you to big data analytics and shows its importance to accountants and auditors.

 About the presenters  

 Tarryn Lyn Wright CA(SA) 

Tarryn is the training, technical and quality control partner of Moore in Durban and a member of the National Technical and Training Committees. Tarryn qualified as a Chartered Accountant (SA) in 2004 after serving articles at PKF in Durban, having completed her degree and Honours degree at the University of South Africa. She was appointed a partner in 2009. She has extensive experience in business valuations, for both commercial use and litigation support. She acts as expert witness or receiver on both divorce and commercial matters.  

Tarryn has a keen interest in training and is responsible for writing and tailoring the material used in the core audit and ethics training on TAG, as well as the presentation thereof. She also writes and presents training at a partner and manager level for the Moore African and European regions. Tarryn is the subject matter expert on ethics for Moore Global. She serves on the SAICA Ethics Committee and is an IRBA Proficiency Interview panellist. 

 

Douglas Lottering 

Douglas is a manager at Moore Durban and is responsible for the Information Systems Audit and Data Analytics services. He began his auditing journey by serving articles with Templar, Egleton and Barry and completed his SAICA Training Contract in 2009 obtaining a BCompt degree during this time. After Templar Egleton and Barry joined Moore Durban, Douglas changed his focus to Information Systems Auditing primarily focusing on Computer Assisted Audit Techniques and Data Analytics.  

 

Douglas is a Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) and an intermediate ACL Certified Data Analyst (ACDA). In support of these certifications, he is also Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control (CRISC). While Data is his passion, he also aids on audit engagements where Information Technology controls are prevalent, and assurance is required around the design and operating effectiveness of these controls. Douglas also has some experience in the development of custom applications and has a strong understanding of Computerised Accounting Packages and Office Software.
