As the state capture inquiry continues, one realises that the common thought that says private sector vs public sector is equal to good vs bad no longer applies. During this inquiry, a long list of State-Owned Companies has come up versus an equally long list of private corporations, some of them transnational.  

It is evident that good corporate governance has taken a big knock across the whole economy and something needs to be done urgently! The King IV Report is a voluntary code that sets in place principles and best practices that every organisation must follow.  

We have invited Dr. Adv Leigh Hefer to discuss corporate governance, ethics and risk with a focus on the King IV Report. Important to note is that the King IV Report now contains mandatory requirements for JSE listed entities.  The webinar is scheduled for 17 September 2019 from 09:00 to 11:00.  


Learning objectives

  • Understand the structure and flow of King IV. 

  • Understand how to apply King IV in his/ her company. 

  • Be able to explain to their Boards their duties and responsibilities as presented by King IV and the Companies Act. 

  • Be able to apply a checklist to test compliance with King IV.

The course will cover the following topics:

  • What is King IV? 

  • The 17 principles contained in King IV; 

  • Mandatory King IV recommendations; 

  • Application and legal status of King IV;  

  • Risk avoidance as guided by King IV; and 

  • King IV compliance checklist.  


Obtaining your CPD certificate

This webinar qualifies for 2 CPD hours with your professional body including: ACCA, SAICA, AAT, SAIPA, SAIBA, IAC, CIS, ICBA, LSSA, FPI, and the IBA. The SAAA CPD policy is compliant with IFAC IES7 and is recognised by all relevant professional bodies.
