Overview
The reality is that many businesses lack planning around business succession. Businesses that lack succession planning often become vulnerable in case of the death, disability or exit of the owner. But there are also other factors that can leave businesses vulnerable because of a lack of planning, for example, the loss of a key person or employee within the business. It is important to treat a business as a “person”, providing it with all the necessary protection it needs in order to continue.
Who shall ensure continuity of your business? Are your partners or fellow shareholders equipped to run or take over your business? Is the next generation simply going to take over? Questions like these are often asked too late by business owners, and the lack of proper business succession planning threatens business continuity.
