The release of the Third Edition of the IFRS for SMEs Accounting Standard marks one of the most significant developments in financial reporting for small and medium-sized entities in recent years.

Overview

The release of the Third Edition of the IFRS for SMEs Accounting Standard marks one of the most significant developments in financial reporting for small and medium-sized entities in recent years. Issued by the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) on 27 February 2025, the revised Standard introduces important changes to key areas such as revenue recognition, business combinations, consolidation, financial instruments, fair value measurement, and the concepts underpinning accounting policies. With an effective date of 1 January 2027 (early adoption permitted), accounting professionals should begin preparing now to ensure a smooth transition.

This webinar provides a structured overview of the principal amendments, explains the rationale behind the changes, and explores their practical implications for entities applying the IFRS for SMEs Accounting Standard. Rather than focusing on every technical amendment, the session highlights the areas most likely to affect financial reporting and provides practical guidance on planning for implementation.

Join Caryn Maitland CA(SA) on the 25th of August 2026 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm as she unpacks the Third Edition of the IFRS for SMEs Accounting Standard, explains what has changed and why, and provides practical insights to help accounting professionals, advisers and preparers assess the impact of the new requirements and prepare confidently for implementation.
