Overview

This Practice Management webinar session on “Practice models and network” forms part of a series of presentations on practice management for small and medium practices based on IFAC’s Practice Manual for SMP’s.

Starting your own [accountancy] firm is one of the greatest professional challenges you will ever undertake but can potentially be one of the most rewarding.  If an accounting firm is built on a solid foundation of good decision-making, ethical and efficient processes, and a balanced team of committed leaders, it can be confident about its long-term future.

This presentation looks at a number of structural considerations inherent in owning or running an accounting firm.

  • Exploring the various models available: sole practitioner, partnership, and corporate structures;
  • Examination of the major approaches to profit-sharing and to decision making within a firm; and
  • The use of networks to multiply the power of your own advice.
