Overview   

The cost of education is high and continues to grow annually. As a result of this, many parents and guardians are struggling to get their children and relatives through school.   

The answer to cushioning this burden lies in the application of Section 10(1)(q) of the Income Tax Act 1962. This currently underutilised Section provides for a tax-deductible education benefit for the relatives of employees. The benefits are enormous and have a positive impact on employees' financial well-being as well as the government's effort to educate the youth.

About the presenter 

Marisa du Plessis, Director EdNVest   

Marisa du Plessis holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Information Technology. A logical and analytic problem solver, Marisa has over 20 years’ experience in managerial roles.  

At present Marisa is a director at EdNVest, a company that designed a platform dedicated  to the administration of this Section 10 education bursary.
