About the presenter
Prof. Elmarie Venter
Elmarie is a well-known presenter, facilitator, mentor and consultant in the field of family businesses. She has almost 30 years of lecturing and research experience in academia. She is currently a professor in the Department of Business Management.
Elmarie has been a consultant to family businesses in South Africa for more than 13 years on succession planning, governance and the role of women in family businesses. She has passion for the business families and students she works with and to see them flourish and grow in their businesses and families.
Elmarie is a founding member and was for 8 years the Director of the Nelson Mandela University Family Business Unit, the first and only research unit of its kind in Africa. The FBU works closely with leading scholars and family businesses to provide excellence in family business research and teaching. Prof. Venter has been the keynote speaker and presenter of more than 80 events nationally, in Africa and internationally on topics such as succession planning, governance, the role of women and maintaining trans-generational succession and entrepreneurship in family businesses.
