This National Certificate: Bookkeeping is accredited by the ICB and is aimed at individuals who wish to start their journey as a Bookkeeper. SAQA ID: 58375.
The Bookkeeper Level is the first stage of the National Diploma in Financial Accounting. This level is designed to provide students with a solid foundation in bookkeeping and basic business literacy. The course is divided into four modules, each focusing on a specific area of bookkeeping.
The first module, Bookkeeping to Trial Balance, introduces students to the fundamental concepts of bookkeeping, including recording transactions, balancing ledgers, and preparing a trial balance.
The second module, Payroll and Monthly SARS Returns, focuses on payroll administration and the preparation and submission of mandatory SARS returns.
In the third module, Computerised Bookkeeping, students learn how to use computer software to perform bookkeeping tasks.
Finally, the Business Literacy module equips students with essential business skills, including effective communication and basic business calculations.

Innocent has more than 12 years industry experience in various finance and accounting roles. During the past 10 years Innocent has moved into the training space where he facilitated on work-readiness programs for thousands of accounting and finance graduates. He is an assessor and moderator registered with various SETAs where he assesses and moderates accounting and finance qualifications. Innocent also trains QuickBooks Online as well as Sage Pastel.
Grade 10 (Std 8) or equivalent. No prior accounting knowledge needed. You must be at least 16 years old.
This qualification is accredited by the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers (ICB).
All formative and summative assessments are conducted online. Candidates must achieve all mandatory competencies of the qualification. To achieve the qualification, learners must be declared competent in all summative assessments conducted by ICB.
Successful completion (i.e. competence in all modules) of this qualification will lead learners to be awarded the Certificate: Bookkeeping at NQF Level 3 (SAQA ID 58375).
