Overview
Financial instruments and leases are among the most frequently encountered yet often misunderstood areas of the IFRS for SMEs Accounting Standard. Incorrect classification, measurement, impairment assessments, and lease accounting can result in material misstatements, compliance issues, and unnecessary complexity in SME financial statements. This webinar provides practical guidance on applying Section 11: Financial Instruments and Section 20: Leases of the IFRS for SMEs (3rd Edition), enabling finance professionals to confidently account for common transactions without incorrectly applying full IFRS requirements such as IFRS 9 or IFRS 16.
Join Caryn Maitland CA(SA) on 10 July 2026 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm as she explores the practical application of the IFRS for SMEs (3rd Edition) requirements for financial instruments and leases. Through practical examples and technical guidance, delegates will learn how to correctly classify, measure, recognise and disclose financial instruments and lease transactions, while avoiding common errors and ensuring compliance with the applicable financial reporting framework.
