New accounting firms face a very challenging environment when they enter the market; they have no reference point as to what makes a successful practice. Existing practices also have no reference point in terms of how they can improve their service delivery to their clients.

The University of Pretoria, in conjunction with the SA Accounting Academy, has conducted a nationwide Management of an Accounting Practice (MAP) survey - to determine how accounting firms in South Africa are managed in order to establish best practice and provide a benchmarking standard for SMPs across the country.

This survey’s results provide answers to some of the most vexing questions asked by practitioners:

  • What is the best method to obtain new clients?
  • What is the average income per partner earned by the firm?
  • What are the average fees charged for typical services?
  • As well as answering the above questions, the survey will offer an in-depth look into the factors impacting profitability and will help you guide your strategic decisions.
