This short course provides a comprehensive overview of the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).

About this Course

This comprehensive online short course on IFRS provides participants with a thorough understanding of essential IFRS standards for effective financial reporting. The first module begins with an introduction to the IFRS Framework and Pervasive Principles, which outlines the foundational concepts that ensure consistency, transparency and accountability in financial statements. Key topics include the qualitative characteristics of useful financial information, principles of accrual accounting and materiality. This foundational module sets the stage for the detailed examination of individual standards covered throughout the course.

The course progresses through several critical IFRS standards applicable to various aspects of financial reporting. Further topics provide comprehensive guidance on recognition, measurement, presentation and disclosure. Participants will gain valuable insights into applying these standards, transitioning from old frameworks and addressing complex areas such as impairment, consolidation and group accounts. Real-world examples and case studies enhance understanding and practical application.

The course concludes with advanced topics including Provisions, Contingent Liabilities, and Contingent Assets (IAS 37), Employee Benefits (IAS 19), Impairment of Assets (IAS 36), Consolidation and Group Accounts (IFRS 10, 11 & 12), Foreign Currency Transactions and Translation (IAS 21) and First-Time Adoption of IFRS (IFRS 1). By the end of the course, participants will have a solid grasp of the IFRS standards critical for accurate financial reporting, enhanced compliance and improved decision-making in a global financial environment.
