About this Course

Ethics are a fundamental element to every professional accountant's daily practice. Accountants are constantly challenged to reflect on the issues and matters they face and always ensure that their moral compass is calibrated and fine-tuned.

As part of building this ethical strength within the profession, professional accountants are required to undertake mandatory structured ethics training annually. This CPD requirement is enforced by all registered professional bodies recognised by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA), including SAICA, SAIPA, SAIBA, ACCA, CIMA, IAC and CSSA. SA Accounting Academy, in collaboration with Caryn Maitland CA(SA), has developed a ethics course to assist professional accountants to comply with this requirement.

Attending this 4-part course will give you the following major competencies:

  • Personal ethics: Distinguishing the difference between what one has a right to do and what is right to do.
  • Business ethics: The business ethics that guide accountants with respect to the people they surround themselves with and the organisational culture they create.
  • Professional ethics: A focus on an individual's professional beliefs aligning that individual's colleagues and the need to protect public interest.

Learning Objectives

  • Understand the importance of ethical decision-making in the accounting profession.

This session is designed to give you space to reflect on your own personal journey and consider what you are striving for during these difficult times, as well as what you won't tolerate.
