Overview

The accounting profession demands strict adherence to the principles of ethics. Members of the public regard this profession highly and expect accountants to be ethical individuals who can be entrusted with the safe custody and correct valuation of their valuable assets, amongst other duties of the accountant.

Lately, the profession has received a big knock in the eyes of the public as cases of graft involving accounting professionals popped up, one after the other. The COVID-19 pandemic has added another dimension to our ethics conversation, with good people being challenged and operating in survival mode. It is important that the few rotten apples do not spoil the whole pack; the majority upright among us should play our part in stopping this rot.

We are presenting a webinar during which real-life situations involving accountants in business will be discussed. These real-world examples will look at ethical fading, management integrity, financial reporting and disclosure issues, financial fraud, corporate crises, and the accountant’s professional responsibility towards their client and the general public.
