President Cyril Ramaphosa announced on 27 June 2021 that South Africa will move to an adjusted level 4 lockdown with effect from Monday, 28 June 2021 until 11 July 2021, after which the status quo of the country regarding the delta variant of COVID-19 will be assessed and the lockdown level reviewed.
The Regulations applicable to adjusted alert level 4 lockdown was published by the Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, in the Government Gazette (with number 44772), dated 27 June 2021.
Table 1 of the Regulations indicate that South Africans are allowed to perform any type of work outside the home, and be able to travel freely for work purposes. It is important to note that the adjusted alert level 4, does not contain the same restrictions as alert level 4 that South Africa was placed under in 2020. Thus, the CIPC essential services certificate DOES NOT constitute a permit or permission to provide essential services or goods, and it is not necessary to have such a certificate or a permit under the current adjusted level 4 restrictions.
Form 7 (Carrying out work responsibilities issued by an employer) must be completed – as published in Annexure A to the Regulations applicable to adjusted alert level 4 lockdown.
