You can get your first Financial Accounting qualification after 4 subjects!

There are 12 subjects which build on each other. You will be able to get the ICB Financial Accounting: Foundation Level of this programme (and achieve the National Certificate: Bookkeeping) after successfully passing just four subjects.

This Financial Accountant Course is for anybody. When you keep studying and you’ll progress through the Intermediate levels to the final and most Advanced Level.

Professional Membership Opportunities

Once you’ve completed your studies through the ICB, there are several professional membership opportunities available; both at local and international professional bodies, that you can apply to for professional membership.

(Please note that some professional bodies also allow student membership, the ICB National Diploma: Financial Accounting qualifications meet the academic requirements of some professional bodies. But do note that they also have other membership criteria too, including relevant work experience.)

SAIBA - The South African Institute of Business Accountants

If you want to perform Accounting Officer duties, you can be a SAIBA member. ICB graduates who hold the National Diploma: Financial Accounting qualifications meet the academic requirements of SAIBA’s membership. But do note that SAIBA has other membership criteria too, including relevant work experience.

SAICA - AT(SA) | Accounting Technician SA

AT(SA) is an associate body of The South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA). Their association means they are part of a forward-thinking institute at the helm of developing, influencing and leading the future of the accountancy profession at large. Together, they represent confident, skilled accounting technicians who are committed and empowered to deliver and uphold the high professional standards and ethics that the profession demands.
If you want to perform Accounting Technician duties, you need to be a AT(SA) member. ICB graduates who hold the National Diploma: Financial Accounting qualifications meet the academic requirements of AT(SA)’s membership. But do note that AT(SA) has other membership criteria too, including relevant work experience.

SAIT – South African Institute of Tax Professionals (SAIT)

SAIT is the largest tax controlling body most preferred by tax professionals. We specialise in quality member representation and boast unmatched industry tax services. If you want to register as a Tax Technician, you’ll need to become a member of SAIT. SAIT recognises the ICB’s National Diploma: Technical Financial Accounting qualification. SAIT has several other membership criteria.

IAAP – International Association of Accounting Professionals

Also based in the UK, the IAAP is an international professional body offering recognition for the finest business and accountancy qualifications in the world.  ICB graduates who hold the FET Certificate: Bookkeeping NQF 4 and higher qualifications may apply to the IAAP for membership.  If your membership is approved, you’ll be able to use the designations awarded by the IAAP.

IAB – International Association of Bookkeepers

The UK-based IAB is recognised by the British government in terms of Anti Money Laundering regulations, and the IAB supervises its members in terms of these regulations.  Depending on the qualification you have passed, ICB students may apply for membership of the IAB.
