While the IAASB remains framework neutral when developing the ISAs, it considers financial reporting framework developments that may affect the ISAs, such as changes to the International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
Amendments to IAS 1 and the Impact on the ISAs: Disclosure of Material Accounting Policy Information, among other matters, provides users with guidance on how to address the effect of the amendments on a number of illustrative auditor reports throughout the ISAs that assume, as part of the fact pattern, that the financial statements are prepared by the management of the entity in accordance with IFRSs.
The amendments will be effective for annual reporting periods beginning on or after 1 January 2023, with early application permitted.
Relevance to Auditors, Independent Reviewers & Accountants:
As an auditor and independent reviewer, you need to comply with International Standards on Auditing and other Assurance Services, and thus you need knowledge of the impact of amendments to IFRSs that are approved as well as when they become effective.
Failure to adhere to ISAs may be interpreted as negligence and you could be held liable.
As an auditor and independent reviewer, you should be aware of proposed changes to existing standards issued by the standard-setting bodies, e.g. the IAASB.
