The last Draft NPO Amendment Bill was gazetted on 1 Oct 2021.

The draft Bill seeks to strengthen the existing regulatory regime and make it more "relevant" to the prevailing "environment" without "constraining its strategic intent". Among other things, this is expected to:

increase efficiencies
reduce red tape, and
facilitate "conversations" on access to information.

Comments are due by 10 July 2022.

The Non-profit Organisations Act and Amendment Bill is yet another piece of legislation that your clients must comply with, and which you must assess compliance with.
