The Professional Accountant Compulsory Ethics CPD Series

Overview

Professional accountants are required to undertake mandatory structured ethics training annually. This CPD requirement is enforced by all registered professional bodies recognised by the SA Qualifications Authority in South Africa, including SAICA, SAIPA, SAIBA, ACCA, CIMA, IAC and CSSA.

The SA Accounting Academy, in collaboration with Caryn Maitland CA(SA), developed a CPD ethics series to assist professional accountants to comply with this requirement.

This series will incorporate the following major elements:

  • Distinguishing the difference between what one has a right to do and what is right to do.
  • The business ethics that guides us with respect to the people we surround ourselves with and the organisational culture we create.
  • Professional ethics which evolve around an individual's professional beliefs aligning that individual's colleagues and the need to protect public interest.

The aim of this series is to unpack the subject of ethics into these three distinct areas that all come together to form an individual that is ethical in their personal, professional and business capacities.
